What happens after I submit, and how do I check the status?
In most towns, filing through the Statewide New Jersey Portal is not on yet during the beta. There, when you press submit, your answers are saved but nothing is sent to the town, and the page tells you so. The construction permit application is different. For now, its page says your application is in, but it is not sent to the town. Apply for a construction permit the way your town does today. Where filing is on, you get a confirmation email, and your application shows a status tracker with where it is in your town's review.

Why does it just say 'Under Review'? Which department has it?
The status shows the steps your town uses. Many towns use one 'Under Review' step for the whole review, so for details on where it is, contact your town's office listed on the form.
Will I get emails or texts when my status changes?
When your town receives your application, you get a confirmation email. If a fee is due when you submit, that email asks you to pay. You get a receipt when you pay online. The Statewide New Jersey Portal does not email you when your status changes or when the town asks for a fee later, so check your application page. There are no text messages.
Can I download my license or permit from my account?
Not yet. For now, use the copy your town gives you, or ask the town for another copy.

I pressed submit and it says the site is in beta. Did my application go through?
No. Your answers are saved, but nothing was sent to the town. To get it to your town now, apply the way your town does today.

Why does My Applications show applications I didn't file on the Statewide New Jersey Portal?
Some towns also show the applications they already hold under your email address. They show in My Applications on the Statewide New Jersey Portal, beside the ones you file there. Your town matches these records on your email address, so verify your email address first. Each record opens its own page with its status from your town. You can't change these records on the Statewide New Jersey Portal. To change one, contact your town.
My application hasn't changed in weeks. Who do I contact?
Contact your town. Your town reviews your application and sets its status on the Statewide New Jersey Portal. The Statewide New Jersey Portal does not email you when your status changes, so check your application page first. During the beta, most towns do not take applications through the Statewide New Jersey Portal yet. If the page said nothing was sent to your town when you submitted, your town does not have your application. Apply the way your town does today.
