Payments and fees

During the beta, most towns do not take applications through the Statewide New Jersey Portal yet. See what happens after you submit.

Can I pay online?

Yes, where your town takes cards online through GovPilot. You pay through the payment provider your town already uses. If your town doesn't take cards online, the form tells you how to pay another way, such as at the town office.

Do I pay when I submit or after the town reviews it?

It depends on the town and the form. Some ask you to pay when you submit. Others review first and then ask you to pay. Submitting is not the same as paying, so check your status after you submit.

How much does it cost, and who sets the fees?

Each town sets its own fees and rules, and the Statewide New Jersey Portal shows the fee where the town has listed one. Questions about a fee or a renewal rule go to your town. If a fee looks missing or wrong, check with your town before you pay.

How do I pay for my application online?

Open your application on the Statewide New Jersey Portal and press Pay Now, or press Pay & Submit on the review page where the form asks you to pay when you submit. The Statewide New Jersey Portal then opens the payment form of your town's payment provider. If your town doesn't take cards online, the form tells you how to pay another way.

I tried to pay. What does the payment message on my application mean?

Open your application and read what its page says. If it says your payment did not go through, your application is safe. Use Pay Now, if you see it, to try again, or come back and pay later. If it says a payment was started, don't pay again yet. If you left the payment page without paying, use I didn't finish paying to cancel it. Otherwise Pay Now comes back if that payment doesn't finish. If it says your payment went through, don't pay again. If it says the payment needs to be checked, contact your town now. If the status hasn't changed in a few days, contact your town.

I was charged twice, or I want a refund. Who do I contact?

Contact your town. When you pay on the Statewide New Jersey Portal, the payment goes to your town through the payment provider your town already uses. Your town can see that payment. Before you contact your town, open your application and read its payment message. If it says your payment went through, don't pay again. If your town says the problem is with the Statewide New Jersey Portal, email support@govpilot.com.

Still need help?

For a question about your application, a fee or a rule, contact your town. For help with the portal itself, email support@govpilot.com.
